Ma'aden, represented by Ma’aden Wa’ad Al Shamal Phosphate Company (MWSPC), signed a memorandum of cooperation agreement with Northern Border University (NBU) with the aim of exchanging technical expertise and studies needed by both parties, in addition to providing practical training for the graduates and summer training.
Under the memorandum, which was witnessed by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Northern Border Region, Ma'aden will attract university graduates according to its needs. The Northern Border University will prepare specialized courses in some areas that the company may need, at the highest standards of quality, while seeking to provide all the qualified experiences that are compatible with the company's activity, as well as cooperation in exploring and nurturing talented people in the region.
In a previous cooperation with the university, Ma'aden has launched a number of initiatives under the name of "ambitious generations" and "tops", in which 50 best young people were selected for training and work in the company.
Within the framework of a general methodology to support development in the northern border region, Ma'aden has launched a qualitative initiative, represented by "Al-Tamayouz" (excellence) schools in Arar and Traif, with the aim of graduating promising Saudi generations from the region, with a better educational and qualificational capacity to meet the requirements of development, with current and future industrial developments.
Ma'aden has also supported a program to train trainers from the Administration of Education there to enhance the ability of students from the Northern Region to pass General Aptitude Test (GAT).
The company also contributed to the establishment of the Saudi Mining Polytechnic in Arar in partnership with Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC); to work in the mining sector, this Institute is the first of its kind in the Middle East.
The company has also employed thousands of people from the northern border region and has supported the region's economy by around one billion Saudi Riyal through the local procurement program.
This memorandum of cooperation is in line with Ma'aden's approach to support education and the diverse development needs of communities near its business areas and mines as education is the most important source of development and one of its key building blocks and is of great importance within the company's plans and strategies.
The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Secretary General of King Abdulaziz & his Companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity (Mawhiba), the CEO of Ma'aden, the Chief Executive Officer, a number of the company's leaders and officials of Ma’aden Wa’ad Al Shamal Phosphate Company (MWSPC).
