Dec 27, 2020

Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden), one of the fastest-growing global mining companies and the largest multi-commodity mining and metals company in the Middle East, has been awarded the internationally recognized ISO 27001:2013 certification for cybersecurity governance, risk and compliance. The Cybersecurity Management System Certification will aid Ma’aden in improving cybersecurity processes and strategies more efficiently and ensure compliance with international standards.

The ISO 27001:2013 certification identifies requirements for a Cybersecurity Management System (CSMS) and defines how organizations should manage and handle the security of digital assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details or information entrusted to you by third parties.

It reinforces Ma’aden’s commitment to sustaining a mature organizational cybersecurity culture and ensuring adequate cybersecurity compliance. To address the latent cyber-risks, Ma’aden adheres to the highest international standards and global best practices apart from its cybersecurity mission.

“This is an important step on our journey to becoming a sustainable global mining company. It is mandatory for Ma'aden to adopt and comply with the highest international standards of corporate governance and continue to build the company operations on strong foundation and sustainable practices. This certification aligns with Ma’aden’s ambition to support organic and inorganic growth through an agile, resilient and cyber-secure enterprise with innovative, world class and sustainable cybersecurity capabilities,” Ma’aden CEO, Mosaed Al Ohali, commented.

“At Ma’aden, we regard cybersecurity as a key priority that needs careful and constant consideration. One cyber breach could compromise our digital infrastructure, industrial control systems and fundamentally our ability to do business, so maintaining international standards for cybersecurity is a core priority for us,” Mosaed Al Ohali continued.

The certification was issued by Intertek, an independent assessor and one of the leading consultation firms globally, after an assessment of Ma’aden’s compliance and capabilities.
