Ma’aden honours long-serving employees

Jeddah -Saudi Arabian Mining Company "Ma’aden” held a Service Award ceremony honouring its employees who have served more than five years in the company.

“We celebrate the great milestones achieved by some of our colleagues across Ma’aden Gold and Base Metals Company (MGBM). I want to thank each of our service award winners for their commitment and their dedication to making Ma’aden a world class minerals enterprise," Ma'aden CEO Engr. Khalid S. Al-Mudaifer said during the ceremony held in Jeddah.

Ma’aden CEO added: "In 2013, MGBM achieved all of its production and cost targets in the working mines as well as made great progress on two new mines. At As Suq, we completed construction work in 2013 and will soon celebrate the beginning of commercial production. At the same time we also signed an engineering and construction contract for our first mine in the Central Arabian Gold Region at Ad Duwayhi where we are on target to achieve first production in 2015."

Al-Mudaifer mentioned that in 2013 the company flew 44,000 kilometres of helicopter borne geophysics surveys searching for new deposits. It also carried out deep near mine drilling at Al Amar and Mahd Ad Dahab to extend the life of these important mines Al-Mudaifer praised the Service Award winners by saying “In this area we have much to celebrate because in 2013 MGBM recorded its lowest ever lost time incidence rate; had zero fatalities; zero environmental incidents; achieved over 90% on Environmental KPIs; and was certified compliant for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.”

In a similar message Yahia Al Shangiti, MGBM President said, “Our awardees deserve a standing ovation as they are indeed true achievers and an inspiration to the rest of our colleagues. We salute you as we give due recognition to your valuable contributions to the progress of the company.”

Al Shangiti added, “Ma’aden Gold was able to achieve its goals and managed to produce 133,677 oz of gold at an average net cash cost of USD 526/oz, leading to a revenue of gold sold amounting to SAR 709 million and attain its talent acquisition and development KPIS with excellent environment, health, safety and security standards.
