Ma’aden and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) today signed a five-year cooperation agreement to conduct studies on the potential environmental impacts of mining activity and to encourage technology transfer to the Saudi mining sector. Studies will be conducted by a joint research team made up of environmental science and technology professionals from both Ma’aden and KACST. The agreement will also lead to the development of new training programs to teach specialized environmental assessment methods to new generations of Saudi mining professionals. Today’s agreement will help ensure that all mining activity in the Kingdom continues to be conducted using innovative technologies and with the utmost respect for environmental performance and preservation.
