Maaden Board of Directors visits Ras Al-Khair city , Meets Professional Development Program Students

The Board of Directors of Saudi Arabian Mining Company "Maaden " visited Ras Al-Khair Mining City , and held a number of meetings and workshops with the executive management and specialists of the company, as well as discussing the global markets trends. The Board of Directors toured a number of the company's projects in various industries including aluminum and phosphate , and inspected the progress of work in rolling and aluminum refinery facilities which are expected to be open during the current year.

The Board of Directors also met with the graduates enrolled in the Professional Development Program , by which Maaden aims to attract and train the best talented Saudis to work in the company's various projects . The Board of Directors reviewed the latest developments of this program and the results achieved ,and urged students to take advantage of the program so as to get the highest degree of knowledge and educational attainment , which qualifies them to lead the company in the future.

The Saudi graduates presented the academic programs which they have attended, and the process they have gone through in preparation to carry out their field jobs. The graduates expressed their thanks to the company's board of directors and the executive management for their generous gesture , and the unique opportunity given to them to join a giant company such as Maaden. For his part, President & CEO Engr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer said the number of those enrolled in the different batches of the program, which commenced from 2012, was more than 120 Saudi graduates who were subjected to the most accurate selection criteria and a varied practical and theoretical training program for 9 to 18 months . By the end of the program , graduates of engineering ,scientific and administrative majors join phosphate , aluminum or gold and base metals sectors or the Functional units at the headquarter. Eng Mudaifer stressed that this program and other initiatives represent the future of Maaden.

He added, another cornerstone is the establishment of the Saudi Mining Polytechnic Institute in collaboration with the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training and the University of Missouri, which accommodates more than 500 students within a two-year academic program , and will graduate the first batch of 150 students soon.

Engineer Mudaifer said in addition, we started a program called "The Initiative" aimed to support school graduates to join the institute in Jubail and Yanbu for one year to learn English and security and safety systems ,hence the students can join either the institute or any other university. The number of students who enrolled in the program since inception in September 2013, more than 180 and planned to include 300 Saudi students annually.

On the sidelines of visit. Maaden was awarded with (ISO 14001) certificate in the areas of environmental systems management and (OHSAS 18001)certificate in occupational health and safety .The certificates were won by the company recently , as a reward for the highest health and safety standards applied by Maaden management in its headquarters in Riyadh.

Engineer Mudaifer said the two certificates are culmination of the company's excellent performance , and a new addition to the achievements of "Maaden " at various levels , as well as an emphasis on employing modern technology in its performance in accordance with the highest safety and environment preservation criteria and standards .
